I went back and forth for days trying to figure out if I was going post this review or not- in my books, its old new lol. I’ve seen swatches of Urban Decay’s Vice palette for quite some time and immediately fell in love and had to get it. Once I got my pretty little paws on it, I knew it was too good not to share with you dolls. Pros
Pigmentation, with the exception of Anonymous and Lace, they were all well-pigmented and dare I say on the average they are better than MAC shadows. It’s so much easier to use shadows that are well pigmented because you don’t have to use so much product, less fall out, and it just yields a better look.
Spring-loaded backing with mirror. I feel like a round of applause is in order for this one. I know the function to have the mirror remaining elevated played a role in the price but it suck when you’re trying to do your makeup using a palette and having to find something to hold the mirror up is a pain in the a**.
Color compilation. This is just a personal opinion, but I like that all the colors are metallic, duo-chrome, shimmery, and overall just has the wow factor. You’ll definitely have to swatch these to see the true color. If eye shadow is your vice, then you most like have enough mattes to top off these colors.
Good Karma brush. It isn’t one of my favorites but it will get the job done and it’s their pro quality brush. Not one of those cheap toss-away brushes you normally get in palettes.
Long wear formula. Need I say more?
Cons
Anonymous and Laced. I actually like Urban Decay pale nude shades and though the colors are great the quality was poor. Even with my deep skintone I should be able to see some chalkiness or something, but it took a lot of work to get these to show.
Many of the shades have dupes with other brands…some more exact than others that just comes really close. Even though this is a con, if you’ve been an avid eyeshadow hoarder the price you most likely won’t have them and if you decide to buy them individually the price will set you back a great deal.
The size poses a small issue when you’re trying to toss it in a bag an go. Honestly, if the columns weren’t so far apart it would have cut down on the size. It just seems pointlessly large for 20 shadows and a brush.
Neutral
The inclusion of the Good Karma brush. For the palette with this theme aimed at eyeshadow addicts, it should be assumed that we most likely already have this brush (since they include them often) or that we would love to start wearing bolder shades more often and would appreciate the inclusion of a deluxe sample of Primer Potion for the true UD experience.
Note: This is a holiday 2012 palette and along with the holidays come sales. This one will be a lot easier to purchase than the infamous Naked palette so wait for Sephora’s Friends & Family sale, or Ulta coupons that don’t limit prestige products which usually come out around the holidays. Where to buy: UrbanDecay.com, Ulta, and Sephora Price: $59.00 Rating: A
